I found my love for coaching the sport of boxing through realizing I can make a real difference in both adults’ and childrens’ lives. Through boxing, I help people gain the self-confidence to do anything they set their mind to.

Crossfit Level 1 Coach – Crossfit Lite trainer.

I am one of the Crossfit trainers at IRA HPC, under the guidance of Neill who is our head coach. I attained my Crossfit level 1 in March 2019. Since then, I started helping more with the classes and was given the opportunity to give the Crossfit lite classes.

Why I love what I do:

I love what I do, because I get to see people grow, get stronger and achieve things they deemed unachievable at times. I love to help people reach lifelong goals, either it be short term or long term goals.

What difference am I making?

I believe I make a difference in pushing some of the people beyond their comfort zone. Reassuring them that they can do what they set their minds to do.

My passion is to enable people to reach their fitness goals and in the process of doing that changing their lives and mindsets forever.

After years of playing rugby and finally hanging up my boots so to speak, I searched for a new challenge. Well needles to say I bumped into CrossFit and after my first class I was hooked. That is where my journey started and that was seven years ago. What I love about CrossFit is that it not only changes your body in the best way, but it reveals character and strengthens your determination and willpower.

Heavy weight East Transvaal Colors. SA title holder and received Springbok Colors.
Part of the SA boxing team for 2 years on SAP and received National Police Colors in 1989 and heavy weight Police champion in 1995.
Received Protea Colors in 1996.
Fought in the trials against the Olympic team.

Why I coach, I believe that boxing teaches one discipline, commitment, concentration, and control. There is nothing like boxing that tests one’s character and endurance. When I was asked to help coach alongside Lappies, I did not hesitate to say yes. Ermelo was a very big part of my boxing career, everything started here. The cold nights of running around the Sport Inn fields with bricks in your hands and on your head. The uphill running past the show grounds with army boots filled with led. The jogging in the freshly plowed cornfields to strengthen your legs, everything happened in Ermelo.

Now the goal is to pass on what I’ve learned over the years to both my son and the members of the gym.

I have always been a competitive person, loving all kinds of sport!

I started with CrossFit IRA, 5 years ago and have grown to love a new challenge every day.

We thought it makes good sense to broaden this facility’s already diverse activities, and to include Aerial Bungee to the mix. I have loved every minute of this new challenge. I did my training through Aerial Fitness Factory and enjoy teaching others to enjoy this as well. We have so much fun working out together and forming new friendships.

So, if you are wanting to experience bungee fitness, this could be your ideal path towards rocking a new challenge, gracefully defying gravity and having the time of your life!

BPhysT (Physiotherapy).

I first studied BSc human movement sciences and physiology at Northwest University and graduated in 2007.

My love for sport and people was the reason that I decided to further study at TUKS. I finished my BPhysT (Physiotherapy) degree in 2011.

I want to improve my patients quality of life and equip them with the knowledge to be able to maintain good quality of life in their activities of daily living, keeping them pain free and improve their performance in their sport. The pilates is a basic building block for every person to achieve the above mentioned. Every person young and old is welcome.

    My love for yoga started when I was 24 and led me to do my teachers training. I have been teaching for 4 years and I keep on learning with every class.

    Yoga teaches the importance of having balance in anything we do or any technique we practice. When you achieve a harmonious state in a posture where your centre of body is in line with centre of gravity, disharmony in that particular muscle will be removed.

    Yoga is accessible for most people and a perfect complimentary practice for any other exercise.
